Dr. Elander's service extends beyond the medical office.  In 2011-12 he served as President for the Los Angeles County Medical Association.  This group works to promote and better the care of patients and physicians.  Dr. Elander currently serves as Chairman of the Board for the Patient Care Foundation.  This foundation has donated over 100,000 dollars in scholarships to Los Angeles medical students from underserved communities. He is past president of the California Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
